Explorational studies validation and evaluation completed in a Phosphate mine in Kuh-e Lar, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province

The Kuh-e Lar phosphate project, officially titled “Engineering Services, Evaluation and Validation of Exploration Studies, and Design and Production Scheduling in Kuh-e Lar Mine in Choram Town,” is a collaboration between Ghadir Mine Exploration & Industry Co. (P.J.S.) and KCE. The project covers an area of approximately 5.38 square kilometers and is situated in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province. The Lar Phosphate mine is located 17 kilometers southeast of Dehdasht town, within the townships of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, near the Basht – Dehdasht road. It is worth noting that this mine holds the largest phosphate deposit discovered in Iran.

The study area for this project lies within the folded Zagros structural zone, characterized by sedimentary rocks with layers and levels containing valuable minerals. The main objective of the Lar Phosphate project is to explore, extract, and process phosphate. The target of exploration is the base of the Pabde formation, with plans for the mine to enter the exploitation phase shortly.

Phosphate, an organic substance found in biochemical sediments, contains uranium, fluorine, and vanadium. The phosphate sedimentary levels are considered valuable resources, with applications in various industries including agriculture, chemicals, metalworking, glass manufacturing, dental laboratories, and detergent and sanitary production. Given the significant increase in global phosphate prices, extraction from Zagros stratigraphic deposits has become economically viable
